Northside's Children's Library contains four sections of reading materials to include board books and paperbacks for very early readers, easy reading for pre-school and kindergarten readers, picture books that encompass a wide range of reading levels from early to more advanced titles. Chapter books, also known as novels, are housed in the Children's section and an additional paperback book section allows children and parents to check out "ephemeral" materials with a generic barcode. Additionally there is a wall of books on CDs, cassette tapes, packaged read along materials, and DVDs housed in the Children's wing of the library.
Library programs are held regularly for toddlers to preschool children every week on Wednesday mornings from 10:30 am - 11:10 a.m. presented by our talented story teller and educator, Mrs. Judy White. Tuesday afternoons children aged pre-school to kindergarten have story time with Dr. D (Dunsker) and Mrs. White from 4:00 p.m.-4:30 p.m. Once a month programs for Helen Ruffin and BYOT (Bring your own Technology) clubs for elementary aged students grades four and up will be offered beginning in October.
